Sea Safari: Causeway Coast Tour

Friday 9 July - Saturday 10 July, 9:00 pm - 12:00 am

Suitability: 18+

£60

The Causeway Coast and Giants Causeway World Heritage Site provides an opportunity to study an unparalleled variety of geology in a small area.

A stunning coastline, much inaccessible by land; explore by boat and see first-hand why the causeway coast is one of only two such sites in the British Isles inscribed on the World Heritage List because of the geological heritage.

Learn about the geological history dating back as far as 500 million years ago and visit a selection of sights such as some of the oldest rocks in Northern Ireland ‘schists’ in Murlough Bay, the coal seams from the Carboniferous period in Ballycastle, the chalk cliffs at White Rock, Portrush from the Cretaceous period, the Giants Causeway and raised beaches from the Quarternary period such as the one at Ballintoy Harbour.

The vessel for this eco trip is registered and licensed by the Coastguard and all safety equipment and guide is included.

Please bring a packed lunch and binoculars/camera. Dress warmly and for the outdoors.

We will meet at Ballycastle Harbour.
