Moon Base biodiversity map was created by the participants of the Black Box's Moon Base Creating Connections group.

Moon Base Biodiversity Project was an 8 week project that included  three socially distanced walks around Belfast with Jim Bradley from The Belfast Hills Partnership where we found over 100 varieties of wildlife, plants and insects! We also had; an Eco-Art workshop in Botanic Gardens with local Artist Anne Marie Taggart, an ‘Introduction to Biodiversity’ workshop with Conor O’Kane, a ‘Sounds of Nature’ workshop with Seonaid Murray, a ‘Nature sounds’ percussion workshop with Chip Bailey, two map making workshops with local artist Kerrie Hanna and a ‘Mystical Microbes’ workshop with Scientific Sue!

This project has been a brilliant opportunity for us to bring our group members together safely in a very worrying time. It has been so positive for everyone’s mental and physical well being to get outdoors and socialize again. Nature has been continuing on as normal throughout the Pandemic and we have come to observe and realise how important it is for us to respect and look after the natural world around us.

Creating the Moon Base Biodiversity Map has been a lot of fun and the group have produced some brilliant drawings! You can buy an A3 limited edition copy of the biodiversity map which comes with a set of six beautiful postcards highlighting some of the amazing plants, animals and insects we found!

Buy the print and postcards set £15  https://blackboxbelfast.ticketsolve.com/products/regular

All proceeds go directly to supporting our continued work on Moon Base Projects.
